Practice Areas
I provide a variety of legal services for individuals and businesses in the Twin Cities.
Business Formation
If you are starting a business, it is best to be fully educated about the options regarding the formation of your corporate entity, the type of entity you select, and the benefits and risks of each. Once the client determines the type of corporate entity they wish to form, Ms. Gustafson can prepare and file the appropriate documents with the Minnesota Secretary of State on behalf of her clients.
Civil Litigation
Litigation is a broad term to describe “going to court.” While it typically involves a Judge and formal courtroom setting, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) is another type of litigation often ordered by judges, or selected by parties, in order to help them facilitate an agreement on their own terms without judicial involvement. Arbitration and Mediation are both types of ADR, and Ms. Gustafson has significant experience in both.
Creditor/Debtor
Having practiced in large law firms for over 12 years, Ms. Gustafson is a regular lecturer for Minnesota Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars on various topic regarding the legal collection of debt in Minnesota. Ms. Gustafson began her career representing Plaintiffs in both consumer and commercial debt collection cases. At this time, she represents both Plaintiffs and Defendants in debt collection cases, including litigation, debt resolution, and bankruptcy.
Criminal Defense
It is often very stressful for those who have been charged with a crime. When representing her clients, Ms. Gustafson makes sure they are aware of all options available to them in the criminal legal system and the accompanying risks and consequences so that they are always fully informed and can make the best possible decisions regarding their own personal cases.
In addition to traditional criminal defense work, Ms. Gustafson has experience representing Petitioners in both requests for harassment restraining orders (HROs) and orders for protection (OFPs), as well as those who have been charged with violating them.
Family Law
From traditional dissolution of marriage and custody issues, to issues regarding contempt of court and LGBTQ specific matters, Ms. Gustafson values the extremely personal and often emotional matters that go along with family court matters.
Landlord/Tenant
From large apartment complexes to individuals owning one or 2 rental properties, Ms. Gustafson has years of experience assisting both Minnesota landlords and tenants, including matters involving commercial leasing. From drafting the lease through potential termination or eviction matters, Ms. Gustafson can represent your interests throughout the leasing process.
